WATER LEVELS STUDY
International Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Study Public
Interest Advisory Group to hold a public meeting to exchange
information on water levels
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - On October 30th,
2002, the Public Interest Advisory Group (PIAG), a volunteer
group appointed by the International Joint Commission to ensure
effective communication between the public and the International
Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Study team, will be hosting
a public meeting to further the dialogue on the impacts of
water level fluctuations with the public.
The major interests and the relevant public are involved
directly in the studies via public meetings in order to ensure
that all affected parties are able to express their concerns
and be part of the progress to evaluate options for regulating
outflows from Lake Ontario through the St. Lawrence River.
The continuous involvement of all interests throughout the
criteria review process is critical to the success of the
study.
